The Board of Deacons consists of members of the church elected for three year terms. Their goal is to be of service to individuals, the church as a whole, and the community.
The Shepherd Program
Each Deacon is responsible for a ‘flock’ of people of the church. Care and concern may take many forms including remembering birthdays, praying for special needs, visitation and telephone calls.
The Helping Hand
This program often provides financial assistance to both church and community members for such things as utilities and rent. In addition, this program can provide transportation to appointments where needed and minor repairs in people’s homes.
Giving Tree
Each Christmas money gifts are collected to purchase $50 gift cards to be distributed to families of Barnegat school children to help them provide their children with a Merry Christmas.
Fellowship
The Deacons provide various fellowship events each year, including a theme dinner. This year’s dinner on March 13th will celebrate St. Patrick’s Day.
Fund raisers
The Deacons sponsor several events each year to support their programs and other community projects.
Communion
The Board of Deacons is responsible for setting up for monthly and special Communion services.
